Reasons Why Low Carb Diets Are Bad

Here Are Reasons Why Low-Carb Diets Are Bad For You!
If you are thinking about losing weight and are thinking about going on a low carb diet then you need to ask yourself "Is a low carb diet good or bad for your health?" The answer is that there are advantages and disadvantages of low cab diets. This article will elaborate on that.
Lets look at the good points first. The advantage of a low carb diet is that it can help in lowering your cholesterol level, your blood pressure as well as your blood sugar level.
The main principle behind the emergence of low carb diets is the belief that since carbs make us gain weight by boosting our insulin levels, by eating a low carb diet, we can lose weight quickly. Truth is however, far from this.
Here's why a low carb diet has disadvantages which you should be wary of:
1. Low carb diet promotes weight gain:
Carbohydrate is the primary source of your body's energy. When this primary energy source is cut off, your body will obviously look for 'alternative' energy sources. Your body's 'alternative' energy source just so happens to be muscles. This means that your body will start to burn your lean muscle mass to make up for the energy deficit. And your body will also store fat deposits instead of burning them, so that it can use those fat deposits to meet any future energy deficit. Your body reacts in a preemptive manner and prepares for what it knows is coming. End result? Weight gain!
This is the reason why, after following a low carb diet for a prolonged period of time, you will start feeling weak, fatigued. You will also start suffering from panic attacks, irritability, nervousness, etc. So low carb diets will actually have a reverse effect on your body.

2. Low carb foods are not necessarily low in fat:
Usually low carb diet plans would recommend you to eat foods that are rich in fat. If you eat fatty foods such as butter, cream, red meat, etc. you will no doubt put on a few pounds. The proponents of the Atkins diet would say that a high fat diet is good for you, but actually it isn't.

3. Not all carbs are unhealthy:
A more practical alternative to low carb diets is to eat only those carbs that are good, that is, complex carbs. Food such as rice, potatoes, vegetables, beans, fruits, etc are rich in complex carbs. Complex carbs would provide your body with the necessary energy while not making you any fatter.
If you are sick and tired of low carb diets, I recommend that you follow the Strip That Fat weight loss program. The Strip That Fat program doesn't restrict you to the ridiculous 'low-fat' or 'low-carb' diet; instead, it makes you lose weight in a healthy way!
