In the fast paced world that we are in today, it is undeniable that people are exposed to stress. As we all know, everyone is prone to stress and its good and bad effects. There is no escape for stress and its effects. It is accepted that when you are stressed out, every part of you, emotionally, physically and mentally may have different reactions to whatever stressor is causing you to react in such a way. This article will discuss the effects of stress in general.
The Physical Effects of Stress
The effects of stress come in different forms but the most evident manifestation is exhaustion. With exhaustion come different effects that may lead to symptoms such as those that you may have when you suffer from flu. Aside from the flu like symptoms, your bowel movement can also be affected by stress. It is a fact that one of the first areas that might be hit by stress in the body is the digestive system. Often times lose bowel movement or an irritable stomach leading to discomforts and spasms are caused by stress as well. Insomnia and all the other sorts of sleep deprivation can also be caused by too much stress. This has a bad effect though since if you are not having enough sleep, the tendency of your stress level getting high is great. Migraines and headaches are also the effects of stress. These headaches are often times known as tension headaches wherein pain usually manifests as an effect of being so stressed out. There is also a great chance that a person who is so stressed out too often can acquire diabetes. If by instance a person already has diabetes and is then stressed out, then the ailment can end up worse. As mentioned earlier, the digestive system is the first area that may be struck with the effects of stress, in this case, ulcers may also develop, which is usually disregarded by most people. People with inflamed ulcers will lessen their intake of proper food making the situation even more severe than it already is. Other manifestations of the effects of stress are skin irritations and other forms of discomforts in the body.
The Emotional and Mental Effects of Stress
People who are stressed out usually end up irritable and may become anti social. Relationships may be destroyed due to irritability. In severe cases, stress can lead to depression and other forms of psychological imbalance making it worse than it already is. It is not only the mind that will come out to be affected by stress but so will the behavioral patterns as well. Sudden shifts in moods and on how to treat people is basically one of the symptoms that stress has already taken its toll on someone.
Stress works like a domino effect. Once you are stressed out, both aspects of your physical and mental; states will be affected. Stress can be relieved with different ways and means depending also upon the person's preferences. There may be countless effects of stress in both mental and physical aspect but there are also a lot of ways to minimize stress from our lives.
