Food addiction can be treated as it is an eating disorder. It all comes down to neurological and emotional factors.
A negative childhood, sudden loss of a love done, divorce, can all cause someone to seek love and support through food, although on the other hand, chemicals and processed food can make a neurological connection with the brain and make an addictive strain resistant to will power.
Understanding food addiction for what it is for those affected is the key to preventing, treating, and curing the issue. Preventative care needs to be the main focus.
Though treatment options, and food education, we as a nation can begin to take preventative steps to ensure that younger generations do not suffer from this growing epidemic.
