Food Addiction

To get to the point of understanding food addiction one must first understand what food addiction truly is. It is a fact that humans need to eat food to survive, and it is normal to eat food multiple times a day. Some also associate food with pleasure, just like a drug addict does to his or her drug of choice. However, for many it does not turn into an addiction. This is due to numerous characteristics separating a normal pleasure from food to an addiction. Problematic thinking and behavior turns something harmless into a life threatening problem. Detecting, understanding, and treating the problematic thinking and behavior is key to understanding food addiction.
Possessing problematic thinking and behavior in the realm of food means that even though people overeat to make themselves feel better, the result often times makes them think worse of themselves and gives them a negative view about it. This occurs many times due to the type of food an overeater chooses to consume. It is not vegetables or fruit but typically fried foods and foods high in sugar content, or foods that are processed. With this, understand that many people that are facing weight problems are middle calls and lower income families. Why you ask, unfortunately it is cheaper to buy 10 packs of hotdog for $10 than it is to purchase foods that are healthy.
